⚡Trader Tools8.52 Strategy 52: Volume Profile POC Reversal
Traditional volume indicators displayed at the bottom of your chart are time-based—they tell you exactly when a large amount of volume was traded. However, professional hedge funds care far more about where the volume was traded. This is where the Volume Profile comes into play.
The Point of Control (POC)
The Volume Profile plots traded volume on the vertical axis (Price) instead of the horizontal axis (Time). By looking at a Volume Profile, you can instantly see which specific price levels had the most institutional money exchange hands.
The absolute peak of the Volume Profile—the single price level where the most volume was traded over a given period—is called the Point of Control (POC). The POC acts as a massive center of gravity for the market. It is the 'fair value' agreed upon by millions of buyers and sellers. When the price moves far away from the POC and then returns to it, it almost always acts as an impenetrable wall of Support or Resistance.
Execution Protocol
1. Draw the Profile: Apply the 'Fixed Range Volume Profile' tool on TradingView over the most recent major consolidation zone or the previous week's price action.
2. Identify the Red Line (POC): The indicator will draw a solid red line precisely at the Point of Control.
3. Wait for the Return: Wait for the price to leave the POC entirely, create a new high or low, and then eventually pull back and touch the red line.
4. The Entry: Enter your trade upon a 1-hour candlestick rejection (a wick forming off the POC line). Place your Stop Loss safely on the other side of the volume cluster.
