Wicknell Chivayo dies in a chopper crash. A sobering PSA for every trader here.

By now you've all heard the news about Wicknell Chivayo's fatal helicopter crash. This was a guy who rubbed shoulders with presidents, and was widely rumored to be the ultimate 'bag man' moving funds across the region, heavily linked with Ruto's circle recently. He had access to infinite money and ultimate power. But guys, looking at how it ended in a split second... it’s a brutal reality check.

We grind on these charts 18 hours a day, losing sleep, chasing that exact private-jet lifestyle. But what’s the point if you cross the finish line and only get to enjoy it for a fraction of your life? We need to remember to actually live, smell the roses, and build real relationships along the journey.

This is the deepest post on this forum today. May he rest in peace, but you are right. We sacrifice our 20s and 30s stressing over accounts, destroying our mental health, just to attain a lifestyle that can be wiped out by one mechanical failure in the sky. Balance is everything.

The political angle is what gets me. When you are moving that kind of money for regional heavyweights and acting as a bag man for presidents, your life is always on a knife's edge. That level of wealth comes with extreme paranoia. I’d rather make a quiet $5k a month trading from my bedroom in Roysambu than deal with that.

Wanjiru is right. The moment he started taking pictures at State House and getting deeply involved in Kenyan political financing, he put a massive target on his back. Extreme wealth without peace is just a gilded cage. Chopper crashes in African politics are rarely just 'accidents'.

Let’s not dive into conspiracy theories yet. Accidents happen. But the OP's point stands. A of traders isolate themselves, lose their girlfriends, alienate their families, just to stare at MT5 all day. If you die tomorrow, who will cry for you? Your broker?

Take time to smell the roses, guys. Make your trading profits, but take your parents out to dinner. Take a walk in Karura. Build meaningful relationships. Wicknell had fleets of Maybachs but couldn't take a single one with him. Don't let greed rob you of the present moment.

You guys are being too poetic. Most of us here are broke, so we have no choice but to grind 18 hours a day. It's easy to say 'smell the roses' when you aren't worried about rent. I’d still take Wicknell's 5 years of extreme luxury over 80 years of poverty.

Kiprono, that's exactly the toxic mindset the OP is warning against. Selling your soul for 5 years of luxury isn't a flex. The goal of trading isn't to become a billionaire bag-man for politicians; the goal is financial freedom to spend time with the people you love.

Look at his 'friends' now. All those influencers and musicians he bought cars for are just posting 'RIP Boss' on Instagram and moving on with their lives. Transactional relationships mean nothing at the end. Build a real family.

I'm with Wanjiru and Ochieng on this. The timing of this crash, right when certain regional tenders and political alliances in East Africa were shifting... it's very suspicious. But regardless, the lesson remains: don't envy the men at the very top. The air is too thin up there.

This is why I deleted Instagram. The pressure to buy a G-Wagon and pop bottles at Milan just to prove you are a profitable trader is exhausting. The real wealth is having zero debt, a healthy body, and a calm mind.

Well said Kibet. A reliable car, a nice house, and good healthcare for your family. That's the dream. The private jets and choppers are unnecessary risks in Africa anyway. Let the politicians keep their bag men.

RIP Wicknell. A true African giant. But let this thread be a pinned PSA for all beginners. Trading is a marathon to buy back your time, not a sprint to an early grave. Close your laptops today and go hug your kids or call your parents.
